Electromobility and vehicle electrification (M. Eng.)

Elektronische Spule auf dem Tisch einer Werkstatt.Specialists for the mobility of the future

How do you develop innovative electric drive systems?

Electrified mobility is one of the key areas of technological change and requires specialists with a systematic understanding of electric vehicle technology. The part-time Master’s in Electromobility and Vehicle Electrification provides precisely this expertise.

You will examine the electrical system chain within the vehicle – from energy storage, through high-voltage components and distribution architectures, to drive and control systems. Using practical content, you will analyse development processes, evaluate new technologies and make well-founded technical decisions regarding mechatronic systems.
The Master’s degree opens the door to challenging roles in the development, integration, validation and technology planning of electrified vehicles, enabling you to play an active part in shaping the transition to sustainable mobility.

Quick Info

Admission and application

Admission

Admission requirements

  • First degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, physics or a related subject (NOT electrical engineering)

AND

  • Generally at least one year of relevant professional experience in vehicle development after completing the university degree (e.g. in the automotive/aerospace industry or at supplier companies)

We will be happy to check whether your first degree and your professional experience fulfil the admission criteria.

Counselling and application

For individual counselling before and during the application phase, please get in touch with the named contact persons at the Campus for Continuing Education. The relevant contact details can be found on this page.

Applications for this degree programme are made online.

There you will receive all relevant information on the application formalities and have the opportunity to track your application progress online.

The application period for the summer semester begins on 15 November, for the winter semester on 2 May of each year.

University entrance qualification acquired abroad

If the higher education entrance qualification was obtained abroad, a preliminary examination of the higher education entrance qualification by uni-assist is required.

Please note that it may take 4 to 6 weeks for uni-assist to process your application.

You can find further information on applying to university from abroad on the website Applying to university from abroad.

Job profiles

By specialising in electrical engineering applications in electrified vehicles, graduates are able to,

  • develop components and systems themselves,
  • reliably assess the performance of suppliers,
  • analyse and design the increasingly complex interaction of subsystems and sensors.

Accreditation

You can find the accreditation status or the accreditation certificate on the website for quality management.
