The increasing electrification of transport places high demands on the robustness, safety and service life of electrical energy storage systems and drive systems. Batteries and fuel cells are key components of future transport solutions and must function reliably under real-world operating conditions. The ‘Robustness and Durability in Electric Mobility’ research group therefore focuses on the experimental and numerical investigation of ageing and degradation mechanisms, as well as on the development of suitable testing and simulation methods for electric energy systems. The aim is to deepen our understanding of physical ageing processes and, on this basis, to derive robust design and testing concepts for future battery systems and fuel cells.

- Investigation of the ageing behaviour of batteries and fuel cells
- Analysis and modelling of cell swelling in lithium-ion batteries
- Assessment of the reliability and service life of second-life batteries
- Numerical simulation and experimental testing of batteries and fuel cells”
