Why did you decide to study GFTM?

I was looking for an interdisciplinary approach to combine my background in the social sciences and economics with a technical and forward-looking perspective.

What was the most important lesson you learned during your studies?

There isn't just one future, but many futures that we can envision—and also help shape.

When you look back on your studies: What do you still benefit from most today?

Throughout my entire academic career: critical questioning and interdisciplinary thinking are the key skills of the future.

Since graduating, what phases of your profession have you completed?

Over the last two semesters, I worked full-time at the Siemens AI Lab, where I led a strategic foresight project on next-generation generative AI.

Since March 2025, I have been working as a technical consultant at klarx, where I am responsible for the entire European mobile crane rental division.

How would you describe your typical workday?

No two workdays are the same. I start very early in the morning, between 6 and 7 a.m., and sometimes finish late in the evening. I manage the mobile crane division, which ranges from small crawler cranes to 750-ton mobile cranes. We are a software-based platform company that enables customers to digitally order all construction machinery and equipment centrally from a single source. My job consists, on the one hand, of strategic tasks that further develop the division, and on the other hand, primarily of operational matters: the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy-lift operations (in data centers, assembly sites, battery storage parks, etc.) and customer support. Central to everything, however, is always the question: how can we change and improve the current process, and how can the software or our process be modified so that the customer can achieve their goal even more easily.

What makes your industry so exciting for you?

It is a very conservative industry, but one that is undergoing major upheaval and will—or must—change. BUT it will never change completely.

What do you particularly like about your job?

This blend of a traditional industry—where a handshake is enough to seal the deal, where people are honest and down-to-earth, and where there’s no big show—and, at the same time, our agility, our focus on digital innovation, and our ability to truly add value.
