Why did you decide to study GFTM?

I have decided to join this Master program because of my interest in future studies and technology developments. Having an industrial engineering background, I was always fascinated by the future and the approach companies take to address multiple future pathways. The program itself offered many advantages such as quite interesting group projects with partners and a professional introduction to foresight.

What was the most important lesson you learned during your studies?

During my studies, I came to realize how quickly the world is evolving and how uncertain the future can be, through very well picked case studies. The program taught me how to be prepared as an organization and individual, but also how to actively participate in shaping the future.

When you look back on your studies: What do you still benefit from most today?

I still benefit from most of the theoretical knowledge gathered during the master program. It helps me understand and operate multiple foresight methods and frameworks.

Since graduating, what phases of your profession have you completed?

After my graduation, I joined a software development company that develops a collaborative foresight platform. With the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence, I am tasked with the integration of AI components into the platform.

How would you describe your typical workday?

A typical workday includes an array of activities ranging from strategy development for future platform development to market research of AI solutions. It usually involves a close collaboration with colleagues from multiple disciplines and departments, which makes the work engaging and exciting.

What makes your industry so exciting for you?

I would say mostly AI’s newness and momentum. Merging AI with foresight and innovation management offers a future-oriented toolkit for addressing today’s problems, and I’m keen to be part of developing it.

What do you particularly like about your job?

My job consists of developing solutions that contribute to making foresight activities more approachable and AI-powered. I particularly like seeing the positive results from the use of these solutions by clients, which serves as a motivation for the future.

How has completing your studies contributed to the realization of your career goals?

I have the chance to apply most of the knowledge I accumulated during my studies. I have opted for a thesis focused on the theoretical and practical integration of artificial intelligence in strategic foresight, which has served as a foundation for my current job. On a personal level, this program taught me multiple skills that allow me to me more proficient in my daily work.

What criteria did you use to decide on a particular career path/step?

It was important for me to choose a path that aligns with my interests and aspirations. My criteria were centered on finding a career where I can actively support in the development of meaningful solutions, and gradually witness the positive impact they will have in the future. The GFTM program and its talented professors have mainly contributed in designing my future path.

What is your favourite future, professional or personal?

My ideal, not-so-utopian future, would be one where technologies and societal changes are shaped, accepted, and embraced by societies. I believe that these changes, positive or negative, should be addressed transparently and involve more collective actions.
