Impetus for Tomorrow at BAI.CON 2025: Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a Key Factor

In their opening speeches, THI President Professor Walter Schober and Lord Mayor Dr Michael Kern emphasised the central role of the region in the digital transformation. Digitalisation and AI play a key role in the transformation of the region into a high-tech location. These two fields are anchored in almost all degree programmes at THI - and we transfer the results of our research directly into the economy,’ said Schober. Kern added: ‘We are living in challenging times. The region is facing structural change, but that is precisely what motivates us. We can only manage this change together, in a strong partnership between science, business, and the city.’

The conference programme opened with impulses from research and industry, including keynotes from Google and Alexander Thamm, a management consultancy specialising in data and AI. A central element was the presentation of the BAIOSPHERE AI Compass - a practical tool for introducing AI in companies that was developed together with partners from the region.

In the afternoon, the conference continued in three parallel themed forums. The research forum on automotive and aviation technology focused on intelligent navigation for drone networks, human-machine interaction in aviation, and challenges in the development of autonomous vehicles. At the same time, experts in the forum on local public transport shed light on how AI can make public transport more efficient, user-centred, and flexible - for example, through intelligent on-call bus systems or automated ticketing. The third forum focused on AI-supported production with live demonstrations and interactive exchange formats between researchers and companies.

BAI.CON 2025 impressed with its practical approach, inspiring presentations, and targeted networking opportunities. With this conference, Ingolstadt is positioning itself as a driving force for intelligent mobility solutions and future-oriented regional development.
