THI Delegation in Mexico: Expansion of International Co-Operation

One highlight of the trip was the signing of a contract for a joint master's degree programme and a student exchange with the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) - one of the country's leading universities with over 120,000 students. The new degree programme strengthens THI's relationship with universities from Latin America and is a further milestone in the internationalisation of THI. It opens up attractive prospects for students from both sides for a practice-oriented Master's degree programme with a double degree.

"With a four-year Bachelor's degree, students from Latin America have good qualification requirements for later studies at our university. We are trying to attract good international students from Latin America through our cooperation programmes. We are thus expanding the previous focus on international students from South East Asia," emphasised Professor Walter Schober.

The signing of the agreement was followed by a dinner with the Mexican Minister of Science, which focussed on current challenges and opportunities for bilateral university cooperation. The exchange emphasised the great importance that the Mexican side attaches to cooperation with German universities - particularly in the area of applied research and dual study models.

In addition, a cooperation agreement was concluded with the German School in Puebla to encourage pupils to study at the THI at an early stage and to strengthen academic connectivity within the framework of international educational pathways.

There was also a visit to Volkswagen, where the ‘En-Globe’ project was discussed, in which Mexican and German students work together on projects at Volkswagen Mexico.
